# Groups Groups are a way of managing Projects and users as Group members. A project must have a group. ## Adding a new group Only Organization Admin users can add a new group to an organization. To add a new group: 1. From the organization page, scroll to the groups listing 1. Select **Add Group** 1. You will be taken to a pop up where you can nominate: 1. Name : this is the display name for the group 1. Slug : used in URLs for the group. If not set, will default to the group name. 1. Description (optional) : used to describe the purpose of the group 1. Select **Add Group** 1. You will be taken to a new page for the Group. Your options form here are to: 1. Add Project 1. Add Members to the group ## Adding a new project to a group Only Organization Admin users can add a new project to a group. Project must belong to a group. A group can have multiple projects. To add a new project: 1. From the group page, select **Add Project** 1. You will be taken to a pop up where you can nominate: 1. Name : this is the display name for the project 1. Slug : used in URLs for the project. If not set, will default to the project name. 1. Description (optional) : used to describe the purpose of the project. This is displayed on the project page. 1. Select **Add** Once the project has been created, you can navigate to that project and add files and members. ## Group Members Adding a user at the group level is a convenience that will add them automatically to all projects within the group. Adding at group level is optional. The alternative is to add members at the project level. .. note:: You can add any RiskScape platform user to your group. They do not need to be a member of your organization. ## Add a new member to a group Only Organization Admin users can add a new member to a group. To add a new user as a member of a group: 1. From the group page, select **Add Member** 1. You will be taken to the Add Member to Group pop up 1. You will need to search for the user by **Name** or **Username** 1. Once you have found the correct user, click on their name. This will populate the Name or username field. 1. Select a role for the user across the group 1. Select **Add to Group** The user will be added to any existing projects in the group and all new projects when they are created.
